Ford’s Advice When Ordering A New Bronco

Between supply chain issues, chip shortages, as well as everybody and their mother wanting one, the wait for a new Bronco is a lengthy process these days.

They say good things come to those who wait, but taking a bit of advice from Ford itself may make that wait a little shorter as order banks prepare to open up this August for the 2023 Bronco edition.

According to Ford Bronco Marketing Manager Mark Grueber, how long you wait for this year’s model really depends on the Bronco trim level you order.

“We’ve got overwhelming demand,” he said in a recent interview with Muscle Cars and Trucks. “The most popular models are the pretty loaded ones. Your Badlands, your Wildtrak, 2.7-liter, Sasquatch, mod bumper, lux package, the fully decked out types.”

Bronco mania hit enthusiasts quickly once the order process opened up last year — so much so that Ford soon had to close down the order process early because of demand. As the automaker negotiated the playing field of supply chain stuff, semiconductors and other issues with subcontractors, the announced a few weeks ago that ordering with begin again August 15.

And if you want a new Bronco in your driveway a little faster, Grueber recommends keeping an open mind towards the mainstream when ordering.

“The units that are more readily available that you could get sooner would be something like a Big Bend series, which is our volume series, four-door, 2.3L automatic with a soft top, non-Sasquatch,” he said.

But if you are really set on purchasing a higher trim level, then he warned the longest wait will most likely be for the Wildtrak two-door.

“I think in part because it looked like it was top of the line because the starting price was the highest, First Edition aside,” he said. “The Badlands you can actually load up to be more than a Wildtrak, but I think, in part of that, it was the most constrained.”

Another reason is because the Wildtrak offers the Sasquatch package. That means you get electronic locking differentials, high-clearance suspension, as well as position-sensitive Bilstein shocks.

Then, Ford adds a Dana 44 AdvanTEK rear axle and Dana AdvanTEK independent front differential. The package also comes with an EcoBoost V6 engine, fender flares, 17-inch black bead-lock-capable wheels and 35-inch tall BSW Mud-Terrain tires. There’s also off-road tech like the Trail Control and Terrain Management system.

While other lower tier level Bronco vehicles won’t have all those features directly off the production line, they also will not carry as high a price tag — allowing you more of a chance to customize a ‘volume’ level Bronco to your needs.
